Can I scan documents to PDF with my phone camera?

Yes. Open Scan to PDF in your mobile browser, allow camera access, and photograph each page - JoyPDF adds the capture to your session strip. You can also pick existing photos from your camera roll if you already snapped documents. Each image is enhanced locally (black-and-white works well for text forms; colour preserves highlights and signatures). When finished, export one merged PDF. For best results, shoot in good light, fill the frame with the page, and avoid shadow across text. Retake blurry pages before export rather than hoping enhancement fixes motion blur.

What's the difference between black-and-white, grayscale, and colour scan modes?

Black-and-white maximises contrast for text forms and receipts - smallest file size, clearest letters on white paper. Grayscale keeps tonal detail for sketches or forms with light grey backgrounds without full colour size. Colour preserves stamps, signatures in blue ink, and highlighted sections - largest files but faithful to originals. Switch modes before export; you can't change mode after PDF creation without rescanning. For archival contracts with coloured logos, use colour; for ten receipt photos for expenses, bw often suffices. Run Compress PDF if the merged colour scan exceeds email limits.

Does scan to PDF make text searchable?

Not automatically. Scan to PDF embeds photos of pages - pixels, not a text layer - so you can't copy-paste until you run OCR PDF on the result. OCR recognises language and adds a hidden text layer while keeping the visual scan. Workflow: scan to PDF here, download, then OCR PDF if you need search, copy, or PDF-to-Word editing. Handwriting and faint stamps reduce OCR accuracy. For a one-page signed form you only need to email as proof, searchable text may be unnecessary; for a 40-page archival scan, OCR afterward saves future search time.

Are my camera captures uploaded to JoyPDF?

No. Enhancement and PDF assembly run in your browser - image bytes stay on your device during processing. JoyPDF does not operate a cloud scan storage backend for this tool. Camera permission goes to your browser, not to a remote JoyPDF camera farm. That matters for ID scans and medical forms where upload-to-process would violate policy. After download, the PDF is a normal file on your disk - protect it like any sensitive document. Clear browser data on shared phones if you captured personal IDs in-session.

Can I merge multiple scans into one PDF?

Yes - merge-all is the default behaviour. Each capture or gallery image becomes a page in one continuous PDF, ordered by capture sequence (reorder with Organize PDF after export if needed). Turn merge off if you need separate one-page PDFs per receipt for an accounting system that rejects multi-page uploads. Page size and margin settings apply uniformly to the session. Adding more captures before export extends the same PDF; downloading finalises the file. There's no page limit beyond browser memory - very long sessions on old phones may need splitting into two exports.

Scan to PDF is optimised for camera capture and automatic enhancement - contrast cleanup, margin framing, and scan-oriented defaults.
