Scan to PDF
Use this tool directly in your browser with local WebAssembly processing - your files stay on your device unless you explicitly choose an AI feature that sends extracted text to our API. JoyPDF offers a free tier for core PDF tasks and an optional Premium plan for advanced limits and AI-powered workflows.
Scan to PDF
Capture documents with your camera and build a PDF.
About this tool
Capture paper documents with your phone camera or webcam and turn them into a polished PDF - receipts, contracts, IDs, or whiteboard notes - without installing desktop scanner software. JoyPDF enhances each capture for readability, applies page size and margins, and assembles multi-page PDFs locally in your browser. Choose black-and-white, grayscale, or colour processing before export. Free, no watermark, no account - pixels stay on your device unless you choose to share the finished PDF.
What you get
- Input: live camera capture or multiple image files from your device - JPG/PNG from gallery works too.
- Enhancement: automatic scan cleanup in bw, grayscale, or colour modes - boosts contrast on uneven lighting.
- Layout: A4 page size with none, narrow, or wide margin presets; portrait orientation by default.
- Output: single merged PDF when merge-all is on, or multiple PDFs when exporting pages separately.
- Searchability: scan output is image-based - text is not selectable until you run OCR PDF afterward.
- Limits: camera quality and steady hands affect legibility; JoyPDF can't recover motion blur from a shaky shot.
When to use
- Digitising expense receipts on a business trip before submitting to finance.
- Scanning signed forms, IDs, or certificates when no office flatbed scanner is available.
- Archiving whiteboard brainstorm photos into one PDF for meeting minutes or project wiki upload.
- Building a quick PDF packet from phone photos of printed handouts at a conference or site visit.
Why JoyPDF for this
Consumer scan apps often sync captures to vendor clouds by default. JoyPDF builds PDFs in your browser: camera frames and gallery images are processed on-device, enhanced, and exported without a mandatory upload step to JoyPDF servers. You control colour mode and margins before save - suited to GDPR-sensitive IDs, patient intake forms, and client documents captured in the field.
