Common questions

Can I convert multiple JPG files into one PDF?

Yes - that's the main use case. Add every image, order them in the thumbnail strip, and export a single PDF with one page per image (or your chosen layout). Useful for ten receipt photos from a business trip or a set of product shots for a catalogue. Each image becomes a page you can scroll in any PDF reader. Reorder before export; after download, use Merge PDF or Organize PDF if you need to insert extra pages from other sources. There's no per-image fee and no account required.

Will image quality drop when converting JPG to PDF?

JoyPDF embeds images without aggressive recompression by default - a 12 MP phone photo stays a large embedded image inside the PDF. You won't see the blocky artefacts of social-media re-upload chains unless the JPG was already heavily compressed. If file size matters, run Compress PDF on the result with a slider you control. For print, keep source resolution; for email, compress after conversion. PNG screenshots with text stay sharp because PNG is lossless; JPEG photos use their existing compression - converting to PDF doesn't magically restore detail lost in the original JPG.

Does EXIF location data stay in the PDF?

The PDF contains the image pixels placed on pages - not necessarily every EXIF field from the original JPG. Metadata stripping depends on how the PDF is built; assume sensitive GPS or camera tags from the source file aren't something you should rely on being removed or preserved. For privacy, strip EXIF from photos before conversion using your phone or desktop tools if location must not travel with the document. JoyPDF's advantage is that files aren't uploaded to a server where metadata might be logged - processing stays local in your browser session.

Can I set page size for A4 or US Letter?

JoyPDF lets you pick common page sizes and orientation so images scale to fit printable margins - important when a portal rejects odd dimensions. A portrait ID scan on A4 with margins looks professional; a full-bleed photo may crop slightly to fit. Check the preview: white borders mean letterboxing to preserve aspect ratio; cropping means fill-the-page mode. Print shops usually want PDF/X or standard A4/Letter; if a strict template is required, match that size before export rather than resizing in the print dialog alone.

PNG with transparency - what happens?

Transparent areas in PNGs typically render as white on the PDF page because PDF viewers expect an opaque page background. Logos on transparency become logo-on-white, which is what most submission systems want anyway. Partial transparency in soft shadows may flatten. If you need a dark background, edit the image first or use a PDF editor after conversion. For signature PNGs with transparent backgrounds, white backing is usually correct for contracts - verify against the recipient's template.

Is JPG to PDF the same as scanning to PDF?

Conceptually similar output - a PDF from visual pages - but Scan to PDF uses your device camera live, while JPG to PDF converts files you already have. Use JPG to PDF when photos are in your gallery or downloads folder; use Scan to PDF when you're capturing paper now. You can mix both: scan to JPG, then batch convert, or scan directly to PDF in one flow. For OCR-searchable text, neither path adds text recognition automatically; run OCR PDF on the result if you need selectable text from photos of documents.
